# CREDENTIALS_INVALID

> No valid credentials (401)

The request carried no API key or session, or one Pulse doesn't recognize.

| Status | Retryable | Title |
| - | - | - |
| `401` | No | No valid credentials |

## Common causes

* No `x-api-key` header (or `Authorization` for a signed-in user) was sent.
* The key was mistyped, deleted, or belongs to another environment.

## What to do

Send a valid API key in the `x-api-key` header.

## Example

```json theme={null}
{
  "type": "https://docs.runpulse.com/errors/credentials-invalid",
  "title": "No valid credentials",
  "status": 401,
  "instance": "urn:pulse:request:req-6f1c2a9e-3b7d-4c55-9a8e-2d4f0b1c7e93",
  "code": "CREDENTIALS_INVALID",
  "request_id": "req-6f1c2a9e-3b7d-4c55-9a8e-2d4f0b1c7e93",
  "retryable": false
}
```

In API version 1 this was `AUTH_001`, `AUTH_002`, `AUTH_003`, `AUTH_005`.
